Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use on scotttimberbuildings.com, what each one does and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information more generally.

What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your computer, phone or tablet. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to remember your choices, and to gather information about how a site is used. Some of the things we describe here are not technically cookies but work in a similar way, such as browser local storage. We have listed those too, and where that is the case the table says so.
Your choices
When you first visit the site we ask what you are happy for us to use. You can accept everything, reject everything except the strictly necessary cookies, or choose category by category. Nothing in the analytics or marketing categories is set until you say yes.
You can change your mind at any time. Your choice is remembered for 6 months, after which we will ask again.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Bear in mind that blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working, including the basket and the checkout. Guidance for each browser is available at aboutcookies.org.
The cookies we use
Our analytics and advertising tags are managed through Google Tag Manager, so the exact cookies in those two categories can change as tags are added or removed. Whatever is in them, nothing in the analytics or marketing categories is set until you agree to it, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time.
Strictly necessary Always active
These cookies keep the site working. They remember your basket, keep you signed in, protect our forms from abuse and record the cookie choice you make on this banner. The site cannot function without them, so they cannot be switched off. They are never used for advertising and we do not share them with anyone.

These cookies let us count visits and see which pages and products are popular, so we can improve the site. The information is collected in aggregate and does not tell us who you are. If you turn these off we still measure basic, anonymous page counts that store nothing on your device.

Marketing Optional, off until you agree
These cookies are set by our advertising partners. They record your visit and the pages you looked at so the adverts you see elsewhere are more relevant to you, and so we can tell which adverts led to an enquiry or an order. Turning these off does not mean you see fewer adverts, only that they are less relevant.

Why the necessary cookies cannot be turned off
The law lets us set a small number of cookies without asking first, but only where they are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for. The cookies in the strictly necessary table above are there to keep you signed in, to hold your basket and building design together as you move between pages, to protect our forms from automated abuse, and to remember the cookie choice you made so we do not have to ask you on every page. None of them are used to track you across other websites or to build an advertising profile, and we do not sell or share what they contain.
Content embedded from other sites
Some pages include content that is served by another company. It is not a cookie we set, but it does mean your browser contacts that company when the page loads, so it is listed here.

The map does not store anything on your device by itself. If you are already signed in to a Google account, Google may set or read its own cookies on google.com when the map loads. Those cookies belong to Google and are covered by their notice, not ours.

Where a cookie in the tables above is marked as third party, it is set by another company and that company decides how the information is used. Their own notices explain this in full:
